SELINSGROVE – Governor Tom Corbett visited the Susquehanna Valley Country Club Thursday to honor local business leader and entrepreneur John Moran Jr., who received the 2014 EconomicsPennsylvania Adam Smith Distinguished Leadership Award.
Moran is the president and CEO of Moran Industries of Watsontown, a warehousing and logistics company. He thanked and praised EconomicsPA for their leadership in helping students become entrepreneurs in the workforce, “This is critical to our Commonwealth’s success in economic growth,” says Moran. “Pennsylvania is one of the most attractive places for students in this country to be educated. Why can’t it also be the most attractive destination for job creators and job seekers?”
Corbett spoke about Moran as a businessman and a friend. In addition, he told the crowd of about 160 people who nominated Moran: the late State Representative Merle Phillips. “When he nominated him for this award, Merle called John a man of high ideals of vision and integrity,” says Corbett.
