Kickball tournament supports Sunbury Fireworks

SUNBURY – A new kickball tournament will be held in Sunbury to kick of Sunbury Celebration 2013. The kickball tournament is set for Saturday July 6th in Sunbury. Tyler Hertzog is organizing the event and says all money raised will help pay for the fireworks display in Sunbury during Sunbury Celebration.

Hertzog said, “You can still sign up and get your team together. You can have 8 to 10 members or more if you want. Sign-ins are from 8 to 8:30 and then we will have a celebrity game at 9 a.m.”

The celebrity game will feature the mayors from Sunbury and Northumberland, State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver, two Sunbury police officers and our own Drew Kelly of 94KX, along with other celebrities.

Hertzog said, “After that game is over, we are going to start the tournament around 9:30 or 9:45. As of now, we have eight teams. Our goal was around 12 to 15 teams, so teams can still sign up. It is $15 per team-member to sign up.”

You can call the Sunbury City Clerk’s office to register or just show up the day of the event. The kickball tournament is Saturday July 6th at the softball fields on North 4th Street near the Sunbury Pool. (Ali Stevens)
