Man jailed on attempted murder charge
NEW COLUMBIA — A 65-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder for an incident at a personal care home in White Deer Township, Union County. Roger Neal Arnold is accused of attacking an employee with a knife at the home in New Columbia on July 27.
State police say the employee entered Arnold’s room to give him medication and he attacked her, stabbing her three times in the shoulder. Arnold then turned the knife on himself, cutting his arm and wrist before he was apprehended. He was taken to Geisinger and treated for his injuries.
The employee was able to get away and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Arnold was arraigned on Tuesday and sent to the Union County Prison. He has a preliminary hearing on September 16 before District Judge Jeffrey Mensch. (Ali Stevens)
