Muncy area man locked up after police chase
SHAMOKIN DAM — A 25-year-old man is in Snyder County Prison after leading Shamokin Dam Police on a chase Thursday afternoon. Christopher Biddinger’s last known address was in Muncy. Shamokin Dam Police Chief Tim Bremigen tells us Biddinger had a warrant in NorthumberlandCounty and also a State Parole warrant. It is unknown what his warrants are for, but Bremigen says Biddinger would have been considered dangerous, although he was not armed.
Just after 1:00p.m., police were approaching a room at a Shamokin Dam hotel along Routes 11/15 when Biddinger fled the scene on foot. For nearly an hour police had set up a perimeter in the area of Shamokin Dam and the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.
Bremigen says police also searched a local store along Routes 11/15. He says they talked to a female witness who told police she received a text alert from 94KX about a man on the run in Shamokin Dam. She then told police that an unknown man had just approached her for a ride, and that is when she put two and two together. Police found Biddinger in the store. He was taken into custody and sent to Snyder County Prison.
Shamokin Dam Police were assisted by state police, along with police in Northumberland and Union Counties. A K-9 unit was also used, along with ‘ping’ cell phone technology, which helped police track Biddinger’s location. Bremigen says charges will be filed against Biddinger. (Sara Bartlett)
