Man pleads guilty to fatal drunk driving accident

BLOOMSBURG – A Columbia County man has pleaded guilty to being intoxicated when he struck and killed a pedestrian on September 16th of last year. 19-year-old Joseph Rish is charged with hitting 50-year-old Robert Mohr with his pickup truck along Ridge Road in North Centre Township.

 

The Press Enterprise reports Mohr was pushing his bicycle home from work along a berm when he was struck by Rish. Police say Rish never stopped to offer help and he was found hiding in a bedroom at his sister’s home. Mohr was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

 

Rish was also driving with a suspended license at the time and his blood alcohol level was .13 percent. Rish remains behind bars in the Columbia County Prison awaiting sentencing. (Ali Stevens)
