Meeting with federal government on CSVT
SUNBURY – A local state representative says plans for the Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway Project are progressing quickly following last week’s passage of the state transportation funding plan. State Representative Lynda Schlegel-Culver spoke about the plans on WKOK’s Monday On The Mark program and said PennDOT has already moved forward.
Culver said, “PennDOT has already been in contact with the Federal Highway Administration. There will be actual meetings this week moving this project forward. I think the Federal Highway Administration fully realizes the need for this project.”
Culver said there are still people out there that don’t believe the project will be built, but she’s confident there will be no more holdups. Culver said, “I know people have been waiting 40-plus years for this to happen and we worked very hard with the transportation package to make sure we were meeting the needs of the Central Susquehanna Valley. This was the top priority for many, many years. We’ve done a press conference so people could get assurances that we are moving forward with this.”
She said Transportation Secretary Barry Schoch is very committed to this project, as are all the local state representatives and senators. You can hear Lynda Schlegel Culver from Monday’s On The Mark program online at www.wkok.com. (Ali Stevens)
