Miranda Barbour to stay in Muncy, her husband in Sunbury
SUNBURY — Accused killer 19-year-old Miranda Barbour will remain jailed in Muncy. She was transferred there last week from the Northumberland County Prison. We told you this week, following a Northumberland County Prison board meeting, that Barbour’s husband, 22-year-old Elytte Barbour would be transferred from prison in Columbia County to prison in Sunbury. He was transferred Wednesday.
Northumberland County Judge Charles Saylor said, despite her attorney’s request, Miranda Barbour will stay jailed in Muncy, but she will be able to have meetings with her attorney at the Northumberland County Prison.
The moves are also a cost savings for the county. Tuesday, Commissioners said housing Elytte Barbour in Columbia County cost about $100 a day, while housing Miranda Barbour in Muncy only costs $65.
