Mobile home fire spread to workshop

BLOOMSBURG — A mobile home was badly damaged by fire in Columbia County yesterday (Saturday).  According to the Press Enterprise, the fire was reported at 228 Wirt St. in Bloomsburg around noon.

The residents, 20-year-old Carrie Millington and her 4-year-old daughter were not home when the blaze broke out.  A neighbor noticed the flames and led the girls’ dog away from the fire.  The mobile home is owned by Terry Shultz, who does have insurance.

The flames allegedly spread to a small workshop nearby, which sustained minor damage.

The Press Enterprise reports that a State Police Fire Marshal said the cause would most likely be ruled “undetermined” due to the amount of damage.

The Red Cross was called to help Millington.  Bloomsburg, Buckhorn, Montour Township, Espy and Catawissa fire crews responded to the scene.  (Codi Jade)
