More rainy weather for The Valley
UNDATED — The recent rains have many folks concerned about possible flooding. In fact, a flash flood watch is posted in The Valley until Tuesday evening. The watch covers Northumberland, Union, Snyder and Montour Counties.
AccuWeather says some drenching rainstorms are likely today and localized flooding is possible. Recent rains have left the ground saturated and most streams are running above normal.
In Sunbury, the Susquehanna River is at 12.7 feet and rising. In the next 24 hours, the river is expected to rise to 17.6 feet before receding. In Danville, the river is a 9.8 feet and is expected to rise to 15.9 feet before going down. On the West Branch in Lewisburg, the river is 6.8 feet and is expected to rise to 9.5 feet. Along Penns Creek, levels are 4.2 feet and are expected to rise just a few tenths of a foot in the next 24 hours.
