Mustang raffle supports Sunbury Fire Department
SUNBURY — Interested in supporting a good cause and driving a sleek car? The Sunbury Fire Department is raffling off a 2014 Ford Mustang Coupe.
Dan Saxton is the former fire chief and raffle organizer. He explained why this raffle is unique. “I came up with this idea to raffle off an automobile, but rather than try to sell tens of thousands of tickets for $1 or $5, I said, let’s try something different. We’re going sell tickets for $100, but we’ll limit the number of tickets to just 500,” he said.
Saxton said the original plan was to raffle off a different type of vehicle each year, but the Ford Mustang was a big hit. “There was a huge following for the Mustang out there, so we decided to stay with a winner. We’ve done the Mustang raffle every year. We’ve made it the Annual Sunbury Fire Department Mustang Raffle, and that’s where we are today,” he said. “It’s very important because it’s expensive to run a fire department. We depend on things like this to support us so we can protect our community.”
This year Sunbury Fire Department is raffling off a 2014 Ford Mustang Coupe in the unique color of “Gotta-Have-It-Green.” Saxton was a guest on WKOK’s On The Mark program Thursday. You can download that program, and view more details about the raffle online at WKOK.com. The raffle winner will be drawn at the Sunbury Celebration on July 13. (Codi Jade)
