Needy Family Fund: Mom of three wants kids to have a good Chirstmas
MILTON — Claribel Familia was furloughed from her job less than a month ago, and with bills mounting, all she wants to do is provide her three children with a perfect Christmas. The 42-year-old from Milton said she panicked after receiving news she would be laid off from her job at a distribution center until after the holidays. She says she applied for the Needy Family Fund because she, “Wants my children to have a great Christmas Day.”
Familia, who came from the Dominican Republic 10 years ago, wants her children ages 15, 8 and 5 to go to bed Christmas Eve and wake up surprised.
She say, “I just want to make sure they have presents to open. Times are tough and this layoff hurt me. I want to make it through and I know next year will be better.”
The Needy Family Fund is a joint effort between the Sunbury and Milton Salvation Army, Susquehanna Bank, The Daily Item and the radio stations of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation. The fund provides food, toys, clothes and more to Valley families in need. You can donate to any branch of Susquehanna Bank.
