Needy Family Fund: Mom wants to put gifts under the tree for three children
UNDATED — Just a few toys for her three children would be a Christmas morning blessing for a 26-year-old single mother in Snyder County. Jill says, “I’ve been running around all stressed out about how I was going to get them something.”
Contributions to the Needy Family Fund will help alleviate that stress for many Valley residents, including Jill, who will be able to pick up a few gifts from the Salvation Army in time for the holiday.
“I can’t find a job,” she said, noting that she doesn’t own or have access to a car.
Jill has worked as a waitress, but the lack of transportation makes it nearly impossible to get work. Online courses also are out of reach because she does not have a computer, she said.
What she does have this holiday season is plenty of love for her three children, ages 6, 3 and 2, who all would benefit from contributions to the fund.
The Needy Family Fund provides food, toys, clothes and more to Valley families in need. It is a joint effort between the Milton and Sunbury Salvation Army, Susquehanna Bank, The Daily Item and the radio stations of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation. This year’s goal is $75,000 and you can donate to any branch of Susquehanna Bank. (The Daily Item)
