New beginning at Bucknell for freshman

LEWISBURG– A bittersweet day for students and parents at Bucknell University. Families from all over have come to Lewisburg today (Friday) to say goodbye and to start new beginnings as part of Freshman move-in day on campus.

Freshman Nicole Finan from Niwot, Colorado says she is looking forward to new experiences. Finan said, “This is so different from where I live at home. At home I have a big house and here I have a tiny dorm room. So I’m really excited for the change of pace in my life.”

Finan’s mother Karen Fukuma says today is one of many days to look forward to. She explained,

“The saddest thing obviously is to see her go but it’s a really happy day because it marks independence. It’s her first start into being an adult so I think it’s wonderful.”

Coming from a small high school Finan says making new friends will be difficult but she excited to do so. (Lauren Koch)
