UPDATE: Four displaced by Union County fire

fireNEW COLUMBIA — Four people were displaced by a Friday night fire in Union County.   That fire broke out in a garage and quickly spread to a home on the 300 block of Sunrise Road in White Deer Township.

The home was owned by Donald and Cathy Diefenbach. The family of four is being assisted by the American Red Cross with food, shelter and clothing. Union County 911 says eight fire companies responded to the scene. No injuries were reported from the scene and the cause of the fire is not available. This is the second time the Diefenbach’s lost their home to fire.

Involved in the response were crews from White Deer Township, Milton, Mifflinburg, Lewisburg, Watsontown, Turbot Township, Pottsgrove and the Warrior Run volunteer fire departments. The fire was reported around 7:30p.m. and crews cleared the scene by about 11:30pm.
