New eye care clinic in Shamokin
COAL TOWNSHIP — There is a new location for eye care in the area. The new Geisinger Ophthalmology-Shamokin clinic held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.
The $1.4 million facility is an addition to Geisinger-ShamokinAreaCommunityHospital’s Specialty Care building. The clinic will offer diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders and diseases, including cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, corneal disease, retina disease, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Herbert John Ingraham, M.D., director of ophthalmology at Geisinger Health System said, “Our goal at G-SACH is to offer specialty eye services close to our patients’ homes. There is a demand for ophthalmology services in lower NorthumberlandCounty, and we plan to be helping the area’s patients successfully overcome the many eye diseases that affect our aging population.”
Dr. William LeMasters, who formerly owned his own ophthalmology practice in Shamokin, will staff the new clinic, along with Dr. Gregory Notz and Dr. Benjamin Hale. All specialists at the new clinic will have the latest in diagnostic equipment, including new lasers and tools. (Codi Jade)
