New Shikellamy State Park manager
SUNBURY — The Shikellamy State Park has a new manager. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has appointed 41-year-old John Clifford of Freeburg to the position.
Clifford joined the Bureau of State Parks in 2005, working as a ranger at Little Buffalo State Park in Perry County. In 2007 he began work as park manager with DCNR’s Park Operations and Maintenance Division.
DCNR Acting Secretary Ellen Ferretti said, “John has gained the right combination of managerial and administrative skills to take over the reins of Shikellamy, where boating, fishing and other water-based activities on the Susquehanna River help draw more than 285,000 visitors a year.”
Clifford will be based at Shikellamy State Park. His duties also include managing the Milton State Park and the Susquehanna State Park in Lycoming County.
Clifford, formerly of Ellicott City, Maryland graduated from Susquehanna University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He succeeds Francis Nanna, who was assigned to a park manager’s post at DCNR headquarters. (Codi Jade)
