NFF exceeds goal to help Valley families


SUNBURY — The Need Family Fund not only topped its $75,000 goal – but it is coming very close to reaching last year’s total of $129,194.95. Today’s balance is $122,750.46.  Recent contributions to the fund include a $2,000 donation from American Legion Post 25 Selinsgrove. Scullin Oil Company donated $1,500.  A $1,000 donation was received from Deacon Equipment Company in Bloomsburg.  There were also recent anonymous donations totaling $1,005.


Each year, The Daily Item, the Salvation Army of Milton and Sunbury, Susquehanna Bank and the radio stations of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation team up to raise money for families in need. The Salvation Army distributes toys, food, clothing, and gifts to eligible families. You are asked to please consider a generous contribution to the Needy Family Fund. Donations can be dropped off at any branch of the Susquehanna Bank. More details are posted at
