NFF: Income doesn’t last a whole month
MIDDLEBURG — Earl Kuhns and his longtime girlfriend Linda have been struggling to make ends meet. They’ve lived together for 20-some years now. While Linda jokes that she can’t remember exactly how long they’ve been together because “time flies when you’re having fun,” she admits that times are tough. “We rely on his monthly income and sometimes it doesn’t last a whole month,” Linda said.
The bad luck seems ongoing. Linda was laid off and can’t seem to find a job. Their car broke down and they don’t have the funds to fix it. Regardless of their struggles, the Needy Family Fund makes the holiday season a bit brighter. Linda said, “They help me out with the holiday meal, especially this year. It would be hard for me to get out to the store and have money to buy the things I need.”
Each year, The Daily Item, the Salvation Army of Milton and Sunbury, Susquehanna Bank and the radio stations of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation team up to raise money for families in need. The Salvation Army distributes toys, food, clothing, and gifts to eligible families.
You are asked to please consider a generous contribution to the Needy Family Fund. Donations can be dropped off at any branch of the Susquehanna Bank. More details are posted at www.wkok.com. (Codi Jade)
