Over $21,000 for Ronald McDonald House
Danville- Food Check-Out Week means many full bellies at Danville’s Ronald McDonald House. Area Farm Bureau chapters helped to raise over 21,000 dollars to stock the Ronald McDonald House’s pantries for nearly the entire year. Senior House Operations Manager Mike Turlis discussed the importance of this partnership. Not only do the donations help to stock the pantry supplies for a year at the Ronald McDonald House, but also it helps to provide meals for the day guest program, which provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner to families that are not staying at the Ronald McDonald house.
Food Check-Out Week is part of an effort to examine the affordability of the American Food Supply. Food Check-Out Week paired Farm Bureau’s efforts of food education with the Ronald McDonald House Charities more than a decade ago. Since the program’s inception, Farm Bureau members have donated more than $3 million in food and monetary contributions to Ronald McDonald Houses and other charities worldwide. (Jillian Lewis)
