Parents not happy about Mifflinburg bus schedule
MIFFLINBURG — The Mifflinburg Area School District plans to change the bus schedule this fall, and many parents are not happy about the decision. The district plans to stagger the busing schedule, putting grades 6-12 on buses by 6:45a.m., and kindergarten to grade 5 on the bus by 7:45a.m.
Parents are taking to Facebook to voice their displeasure with the schedule. Many moms are complaining that they now have to put their children on buses at two different times. Parents are also unhappy that some students may now be on the bus for over an hour. A few moms even said it would be impossible for them to go to work with this new schedule.
Older students will now get off class at 2:45p.m., while the younger kids will end their day at 3:30p.m. The staggering is anticipated to save the district about $155,000 annually. The proposal was passed at a school board meeting Tuesday night. Changes will occur at the start of the 2014-15 school year. (Codi Jade)
