Penn State trustees mum on prez abort
STATE COLLEGE — No word from the Penn State trustees on why the selection of a new president was derailed at the last minute. A hastily called personnel and presidential search meeting was called for Thursday night and Friday morning.
And while the private meeting was held, at the last minute, a notice went up that no votes would be taken at a public meeting and no new president would be announced. The notice said the meeting was cancelled to give themselves more time to consider possible candidates.
Later Friday, the full board of trustees received an update on the search for a new president. The only public statement from the trustees was that they still plan to pick a new leader by the time Penn State President Rodney Erickson retires on June 30.
A search committee, and a private search firm, have been seeking a successor to Erickson, who assumed the post amid the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. (AP and Mark Lawrence)
