Pharmacist accused of stealing painkillers

DANVILLE – An Elysburg woman, who worked as a pharmacist in Danville, is accused of taking the pharmacy’s entire stock of Oxycodone painkillers. The Press Enterprise reports 32-year-old Amanda Kurtz took about 4,500 pills from the Select Specialty Hospital pharmacy and tried to cover up the thefts by replacing the stolen pills with Tylenol tablets.

Police say Kurtz was caught last year and admitted to the thefts. She is charged with three felony drug possession counts, and two counts of misbranding medication. Kurtz was arraigned on Thursday and released on bail. (Ali Stevens)
