Polar Bear Plunge canceled in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — Although a “Polar Bear Plunge” is expected to be cold, flooding is not always ideal.  Due to the high levels of the Susquehanna River, tomorrow’s Polar Bear Plunge in Lewisburg has been canceled.

The West Branch of the river is currently at 14.5 feet and has crested.  Flood stage is 18 feet.  The river is normally at 3.5 feet during this time of the year.

Linda Sterling, Director of the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership, alerted the cancellation, saying the river conditions are unsafe.  All other activities involved in the 10th Annual Heart of Lewisburg Ice Festival will continue as scheduled.  You can find a full listing of those events at www.wkok.com.
