High speed chase lasts 34 miles

MILTON — A Sunbury woman is in jail after leading police on a 34 mile high-speed chase in Union County Saturday.  Milton State Police say the incident started around 12:50p.m. when 29-year-old Leslie Arthurs was seen driving her vehicle through a yard along Buffalo Road in Mifflinburg.  Arthurs then began to travel along Church Street and failed to stop for police.

According to police, she reached speeds of up to 75 mph while traveling through Lewisburg, Kelly Township and White Deer Township along Route 15.  In that pursuit, Arthurs rear-ended a Milton Borough Police vehicle.  As Arthurs approached the I-80 westbound ramp, police executed the precision immobilization technique, in an effort to get her to stop.  She hit and damaged three police vehicles before stopping.

Arthurs was taken to Geisinger Medical Center and has been released.  She is charged on a number of counts including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief, fleeing and eluding police and several other traffic offenses.  She is in Union County Jail on $100,000 bail.

The entire incident lasted for about 25 minutes and Milton State Police were assisted by Milton Borough, Buffalo Valley Regional and Shamokin Dam Police, along with White Deer Fire and Ambulance. (Sara Bartlett)
