Police investigate Lewisburg cafe burglary
LEWISBURG — “It could have been worse.” That’s what the manager of Cherry Alley Cafe in Lewisburg, Heather Adams, said about Monday night’s break-in to the restaurant. She says they are lucky there wasn’t more damage.
Police are still investigating, but Adams says the incident forced them to close Tuesday. “Someone kicked in our back kitchen door. They took our cash register and our backup money. The main property damage is to the back door, so we have to replace that and also go to the bank to restock.”
Police have not released the exact amount of money stolen. “It was a good amount of money,” says Adams, “and then there’s also the money we lose by having to close for a day. But, our owner is fixing the back door himself, he’s good at that, so that will save some money.”
The Buffalo Valley Regional Police continue their investigation. Adams says Cherry Alley will be opened Wednesday. (Sara Bartlett/Codi Jade)
