PPL: 1,700 still out Monday morning
UNDATED — More than 1,700 PPL customers are still without electricity Monday morning now, more than 12-hours after a power outage began. PPL is telling area county officials, for some of their customers, it may not be until Monday afternoon when power is restored.
The outages occurred when a fast moving storm brought extremely high winds, numerous trees were knocked down and lightning reportedly hit a PPL substation–causing extensive damage. At the Penn Valley Airport in Selinsgrove, wind gusts were clocked 40-miles-per-hour at around 5pm. Winds were thought to be much higher elsewhere.

County 9-1-1 centers ask area residents–to not call 9-1-1 unless it is an emergency. Do call 1-800-DIAL-PPL to report an outage and receive a ‘restoration estimate.’
