Preliminary hearing this week for Shamokin arsonist
SHAMOKIN – A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday for a Shamokin man charged with arson. 22-year-old James Neidlinger will appear before District Judge John Gembic. Neidlinger is charged with setting fire to a building in the 600 block of East Sunbury Street around 10:40p.m. last Monday.
Neidlinger was found at the scene of the blaze, was questioned by police and did admit to setting the fire. The incident was one of a handful of blazes in the Shamokin area last week, but police have not said whether Neidlinger is suspected in any of the other incidents. Neidlinger is in jail and faces a number of charges including arson, risking a catastrophe and criminal trespass. (Sara Bartlett)
