President Judge announces his retirement
SUNBURY – Northumberland County President Judge Robert Sacavage has announced that he will retire on January 7th after 18-years on the job. The 62-year-old judge plans to apply to become a senior judge and work part-time for the county.
Governor Tom Corbett must appoint a judge to take Sacavage’s place until the next election. Judge William Wiest will now serve as President Judge.
Sacavage was elected in the 1980’s as District Attorney in Northumberland County. Later he was elected as a judge and then moved into the position of President Judge. He says he will remain in the area, but it was just time to move on.
