Public meeting on new Shikellamy Middle School
NORTHUMBERLAND – The Northumberland Planning Commission hosted a public meeting last evening to discuss the plans for a new middle school in the borough. The new school would be called the Shikellamy Middle School and would cost about $20-million to build.
The Shikellamy School District would have the vacant C.W. Rice building in the borough demolished and then build a new school. Larson Design Group is handling the design of the school and attended the meeting to hear from the public about their design. The plan is to demolish the old building before the end of the year and begin construction of the new school in May of 2014.
Another public hearing will be held on November 19th at 7 p.m. in the Shikellamy High School auditorium.
