Fundraiser for women’s shelter
SELINSGROVE- – An upcoming event will help raise money for the construction of a local women’s shelter. The By Grace Transitional Home is faith-based, non-profit and is being build without government funds. It is supported by volunteers, the community, local churches, fund raising, and all the profits from the Graceful Catering Business.
They are hosting the Raise The Roof fundraiser Saturday August 24. The event at Kidsgrove in Selinsgrove will include a number of activities all to raise money to build the shelter. Tammy Klinger says, “We’re going to have a car show. If anyone has a car they would like to show we would love to have them. They’re also organizing a motorcycle run. So if there is anyone who has a motorcycle can come out and participate in the motorcycle run.”
Klinger says the money raised will go towards continuing the construction of the shelter. “After the fundraiser we’re just hoping to take the money we have raised and continue to buy building materials so we can complete the construction that is underway at the present time.
The Transitional Home is helping homeless women ages 17 to 26 with or without children in Snyder and Union counties. The event will begin at 9 am to 4 pm. For more information about the Raise the Roof event or shelter contact Tammy Klinger at 570-765-2086 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Klinger will be a guest on Tuesday’s On The Mark program.(Lauren Koch)
