Remembering a soldier from Elizabethville

HARRISBURG — Governor Tom Corbett is taking time to honor a soldier from Elizabethville who died during a military training exercise in Arizona on March 28th. Corbett ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Dauphin County to be flown at half-staff on Friday to honor U.S.


Navy Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle. The 31-year-old Shadle enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2000 and completed his SEAL training the following year. He served in Afghanistan and Iraq, earning multiple Bronze Star medals with valor and several service ribbons.


Flags shall remain at half-staff until sundown on Friday, the day of Shadle’s burial in Arlington National Cemetery. All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute. (Ali Stevens)
