Remembering a Sunbury mom through Karaoke
SUNBURY – A special fundraiser is planned for Friday night to benefit a local non-profit organization, but also to remember the life of a Sunbury mother, who died in a tragic accident. Melissa “Missy” Moyer died in July while on vacation in Maine after accidentally crashing into the ocean while driving. Her sister, Megan Aikey has been holding fundraisers to help Moyer’s 13-year-old son and other local charities.
The fundraiser on Friday will feature a twist on Karaoke with 94KX morning show host Drew Kelly and Daily Item reporter Francis Scarcella. Whoever raises the least amount of money will have to sing. Guest Singers from local bands have also been asked to entertain throughout the night.
The Karaoke party will be held at the Route 61 Roadhouse in Sunbury on Friday evening. The event features food specials from 4 to 9 p.m., kids karaoke from 9 to 10 p.m. and adult karaoke from 10 to midnight. A donation of $5 will be accepted at the door. All money raised will go towards the Missy Moyer Festival of Life and you can find more information at www.missywashere.com. (Ali Stevens)
