Armed robbery in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — The Lewisburg Area schools were in lockdown for a little over an hour Wednesday as State Police investigated an armed robbery in the area.  Lewisburg Area School District Superintendent Mark DiRocco says Milton State Police contacted them around 12:50p.m. requesting them to put schools on lockdown, meaning no one is allowed in or out of the school.  The lockdown was lifted around 2:00p.m.

Milton State Police tell us the armed robbery took place around 12:40p.m. at Silver Moon Consignment Store in Kelly Township, Union County.  A man in his 30’s was armed with a handgun, which he reportedly showed to a store clerk.  He then fled the scene on foot with unknown merchandise.  Police continue their search for him and a helicopter is assisting with the search as well.  There were no injuries reported.

The man was reportedly wearing a three-quarter length green jacket, jeans and a white shirt.  He is described as a white male about 6′ tall and thin.  Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-524-9391.
