AUDIO HERE: Selinsgrove woman wins trip on “Live”
SELINSGROVE — A Selinsgrove restaurant owner was the winner of a trivia contest on Live with Kelly and Michael Friday morning. Kathy Wendt of Wendt’s Pork Palace was at work at the restaurant at the time producers from the show called her. She was then patched through to host Michael Strahan and guest co-host Erin Andrews.
Wendt said, “It was very fun and very nerve-wracking. And, I got Michael to crack up so that felt good. They just asked me about my business with my husband and making pork barbecue. It was just a blur.”
Wendt was then asked the trivia question, based on their show from the previous day. She said, “They asked me who Channing Tatum danced the opening dance with at the Academy Awards. I was given an hour to review the show because they called me an hour before to let me know I was chosen for the trivia contest. I just happened to take notes on that and knew the answer was Charlize Theron.”
When she answered correctly, she was declared a winner. Wendt said, “I won a trip to St. Lucia worth $8,500. I am very excited. We are going to take that probably next February.”
Here is the amazing part of the story. This was the second time Kathy Wendt has been called to be on Live. Wendt said, “What are the odds of that! They called me last January for the trivia. This time it was Kelly calling and her sit-in co-host was Carl Edwards, the NASCAR driver. We talked about the Selinsgrove Speedway because Carl Edwards was familiar with that.”
She was not able to answer the trivia question correctly that time and did not win. This time she was prepared and came out the winner. Kathy said the show was pre-taped Wednesday and says her co-workers all got to hear her win. She was then able to let friends and family know to watch Friday’s broadcast that she was featured on.
