September is dog month in Lewisburg
LEWISBURG — September has gone to the dogs in Lewisburg. Katie Davis of the Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority said there is a lot for your dog to look forward to this month.
“This will be our fourth annual Doggie Dips,” Davis said. “What we do is, before we drain the water for the season, we open it up for the dogs. Your dog does not have to love to swim, you can just treat it as a play date — plenty of the dogs do that. But it really is a hoot to see all the dogs out there. It is slightly chaotic, but so far it’s gone smooth and it’s been a very successful event.”
Doggie Dips will be Saturday Sept. 14 and Wednesday Sept. 18 from 4:00p.m. to 7:30p.m. at the Lewisburg Community Pool. The fee is $12 per dog. All dogs are welcome as long as they have a collar, leash and license.
Davis said that is not the only canine friendly event this month. “Our second annual Tails to Trails is a 5K fun run on the Rail Trail. It’s an out and back. It’s just $7 per dog if you preregister by this Friday. Humans are free.”
The Tails to Trails 5K Run/Walk is Saturday September 21 at 9:30a.m. Davis said the free Dog Park is also currently open from dawn to dusk at St. Mary’s and St. Lawrence Street in Lewisburg.
