Sheetz wins title of favorite Pennsylvania Convenience Store
UNDATED — Harper Polling has completed a survey of Pennsylvania’s favorite convenience store and the winner was Sheetz, grabbing 51 percent of the vote. The next closest store was Wawa with 26 percent of the vote, followed by 7-Eleven, Rutters and Turkey Hill.
The survey was features this week in the New York Times, where reporter Trip Gabriel visited the Sheetz location in Selinsgrove. Those choosing Sheetz as their favorite say the touch screen ordering system and the freshly prepared food are their reasons for stopping at Sheetz.
The Sheetz chain began on a dairy darm in Altoona in 1952. It took them more than 10 years for the Sheetz brothers to open their second store and today, there are about 400 locations in the mid-Atlantic. (Ali Stevens)
