Shoch says county employee’s pay raise was illegal
SUNBURY — Northumberland County Commissioner Rick Shoch is again alleging improper practices in the county. In an email to the media, Shoch accuses commissioners Vinny Clausi and Stephen Bridy of increasing the salary of assistant registrar for the county board of elections Cortney Marise.
Shoch says a pay increase to $23,191 was approved for Marise, however Shoch says he never reviewed or signed for the increase and budget director Jeff McClintock’s signature is also not on the form. Shoch claims the pay increase is illegal because it was never voted on during a public salary board meeting.
Shoch says, “These latest abuses are just the ones that have come upon to date. I am sure that a thorough investigation by an independent agency would show that these are just the tip of the iceberg.” Last week, Shoch alleged that former adult probation chief John Wondoloski was able to claim unemployment benefits even though he retired.
