Shopping for health insurance
DANVILLE – People across the US could go online Tuesday to start shopping the health care exchanges for health coverage as part of the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare. David Brady is vice president of Health Care Reform for Geisinger Health Plan and explained that there are two different kinds of exchanges.
Brady said, “There is the federally facilitated exchange, which is the federal exchange, and then there are private exchanges like the GeisingerMarketplace. com exchange, so there are two different types of online exchanges where individuals, families and small groups can obtain coverage. It’s a different type of shopping experience. It’s really quite an exciting time for people to go out and obtain coverage in a different way.”
Brady says Geisinger Health Plan is part of both types of exchanges. Brady said, “We are represented on both the federally facilitated exchange and we also have our own private exchange, where we have all of our qualified products listed and available for purchase. We also have the ability to connect to the federally facilitated exchange to apply available subsidies for those who are eligible.”
David Brady will be a guest on WKOK’s On The Mark program Thursday at 9 a.m. talking about the Affordable Care Act and obtaining health insurance through the online exchanges. You can call 1-800-795-WKOK or email email@example.com with comments or questions. (Ali Stevens)
