Annual Quizzo Tourney set in Sunbury

SUNBURY – The Sixth Annual Bill Hoover Memorial Quizzo Tournament is coming up, so now is the time to put your team together. Organizer Angie Brouse explains, “Quizzo is a six-person trivia pub game that consists of general knowledge trivia questions. Everything from entertainment to sports to religion and history. Teams work together to answer a set of 40 questions. The team with the most answers wins. It turns into a really competitive night, but more importantly, a lot of fun.”

Brouse says the tournament benefits two important causes. She said, “When we started this Quizzo tournament, it was for a scholarship fund for Shikellamy High School seniors to help them with expenses for continuing education. As the tournament became more successful, we broadened it to also include the Shikellamy Outdoor Education Fund for 5th Grade Camp. My dad was a 5th grade teacher for many years and he went to camp every year with the kids and we want to make sure they can continue with that tradition.”

The Bill Hoover Memorial Quizzo Tournament is named after Brouse’s father, who succumbed to cancer in February of 2008. Last year’s Quizzo tournament raised more than $3,500 for the scholarship fund. The tournament will start promptly at 88 p.m. at the Hotel Edison in Sunbury on Monday, July 15th. There will also be a silent auction, featuring about 100 different items to bid on. (Ali Stevens)
