Snyder County church burglar now charged with assault
SELINSGROVE – A Middleburg man charged with burglarizing several churches in Snyder County has now been charged with assaulting an inmate at the county prison. The Daily Item reports 18-year-old John Shaffer II punched another inmate causing serious facial injuries and a concussion. Shaffer was arraigned on a charge of felony aggravated assault for the incident on November 12th at the Snyder County Prison.
He was already jailed for allegedly breaking into six Snyder County churches and stealing cash and other items in April. Shaffer then fled to Florida, where he was apprehended in late August. (Ali Stevens)
