Snyder County Courthouse to be painted
SUNBURY — The SnyderCounty Courthouse will be getting a makeover. According to Snyder County Commissioner Joe Kantz, the building’s trim is past its prime.
“All of the trim around the top of the courthouse, it’s a really beautiful piece of architecture,” Kantz said. “But those moldings have been neglected for a number of years, and it’s beyond time to get them taken care of. So that is on our to do list.”
Kantz said the Snyder County Commissioners work to spend taxpayer money as effectively as possible. ”We have taxpayer dollars that we have to be responsible for. So we’ve made it a point each year to budget for things as we need to. We are trying to make a 5-year plan, but the problem is that we have 15 to 20 years of things that have been let go… Because if you don’t have a plan in place, moving forward, to take care and maintain buildings, you are going to have to play catch up sooner or later… and we are playing catch up.”
Kantz said they are getting ready to take bids for the contracting work. He believes it could end up costing somewhere near $30,000 to get the courthouse painted.
