Spa Day to benefit local charities
SUNBURY — The word “soroptimist” means “the best for women,” and that is what the Soroptimists of S.U.N. Counties are devoted to giving. Sue Treas is president of the local chapter.
She explains the groups mission, “We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for women and girls in our local communities and throughout the world. We thoroughly enjoy going out there and having our fundraisers. We find it very uplifting when we listen to hear the struggles they go through and that we are able to help them to improve their lives.” The group works to help women in many ways, including donating clothing, bras and cleaning supplies to women in shelters.
The Soroptimists are holding a Diva Spa Day Sunday at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. Brie Apfelbaum Kula explains what women can look forward to. “At Diva Spa Day, what we are trying to do is create a pampering afternoon out for the ladies of The Valley. Brush off those winter blues, come out of hibernation and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of spa treatments, boutique shopping and great vendors. Women can shop for a cause. All of the proceeds from this event are going to local charities and service projects.”
Tickets are $25 presale and $30 at the door. Admission includes a spa treatment, admission to boutique shopping, demonstrations, a door prize ticket, an auction and food and beverages.
