Storm remnants remain, one road closed



SUNBURY — According to the National Weather Service, snow squalls, which passed through The Valley Thursday, had wind gusts of up to 45 mph. Several parts of the region got a quick coating of snow. There were driving problems throughout the region Thursday.


Route 61, Route 11/147 in Northumberland, and Eighth Street in Mifflinburg, were among the several roads were affected by weather related issues. Today, only a section of Shakespeare Road in Milton is still closed. PPL says they have restored all of their weather related power outages. They had over a thousand local customers without power Wednesday and Thursday.


The Susquehanna River is not expected to go quite as high as earlier official forecasts. Currently, the river at Sunbury is at 17.3 feet. A crest at about 19′ is expected later today. The river is expected to crest below flood stage at Milton, Lewisburg, Danville, and Bloomsburg. (Codi Jade)
