Sunbury Police: Homicide is “complicated”

SUNBURY – Sunbury Police say last week’s homicide in the city has “evolved into a more complicated investigation.”  Police released a statement Monday saying that their department is actively investigating the homicide of 42-year-old Troy LaFerrara of Port Trevorton.

Sunbury Police Chief Stephen Mazzeo says they are organizing a homicide task force that includes representation from the Northumberland County District Attorney’s office and state police.  They also continue to work with multiple local police and businesses.

According to police, LaFerrara was stabbed multiple times Monday, November 11.  His body was found Tuesday morning outside in the 200 block of Catawissa Avenue.  Anyone with information is asked to call Sunbury Police at 570-286-4584. (Sara Bartlett)
