Sunbury resident admits to his role in a deadly crash
SUNBURY — A Sunbury teen has pleaded guilty to felony charges of homicide by vehicle in a deadly crash that killed 16-year-old Travis Tillet of Northumberland. Justin Miller was in Union County Court on Tuesday and admitted causing the September 14th crash on Route 304 near New Berlin.
Tillett was thrown from the vehicle and died the next day. Two other passengers from Shikellamy High School, 19-year-olds Robert Coleman and Samuel Mull, both suffered serious injuries.
The students were traveling to Sun Area Technical Institute in New Berlin. Miller is accused of driving 89 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone when he tried to pass another motorist in a no-passing zone. The case has been transferred to juvenile court in Northumberland County, since Miller is a resident of Sunbury. (Ali Stevens)
