Sunbury River Festival two weeks away

SUNBURY — We are just two weeks away from the Sunbury River Festival, and this year the city is celebrating 25 years. Slade Shreck is one of the chairs of this year’s festival and says there will be special 25th anniversary giveaways this year, “We are going all out. Friday night we will be handing out free mugs to keep, and a drink coupon for a free beverage. On Saturday we will be handing out carnations to the first 500 people.”

Shreck says new this year is something called River Festival After Hours Saturday night, “Sunbury Elks has teamed up with the festival to sponsor the event, which will be held by the boat docks near the amphitheater. We will have Adrenalize, a Def Leppard tribute band starting at 7:30p.m. This is all free. We will also have a mechanical bull for anyone over 18 to ride.”

Sunbury River Festival favorites will also be back this year, kicking off Thursday, August 14 with The Valley’s Got Talent. There will be hundreds of vendors downtown Friday and Saturday, the car show, boat regatta, live entertainment and much more.
