Sunbury teen in juvenile detention center

SUNBURY — The Sunbury teen shot by police on June 5 is now in custody following his release from the hospital.  17-year-old Naheem Reams was released from the hospital Tuesday and has now been placed in a juvenile detention facility.

According to The News Item, Reams was in Northumberland County Court Wednesday afternoon. He went before Judge William H. Wiest around 4:00p.m. for a previous court case stemming from a May incident.  Details on that case have not been made public as police investigate the June 5 incident.  Wiest made the decision to send Reams to a detention facility where he can get proper medical care.

No other details are available at this time on which detention facility Reams is in and how long he will stay there.  Reams was admitted to GeisingerMedicalCenter in critical condition earlier this month after he was shot by a Sunbury police officer following a dangerous chase.  State Police in Stonington continue to investigate the incident.  (Codi Jade)
