Sunbury to step up code enforcement
SUNBURY — A new committee is being established in Sunbury. Mayor David Persing says the 2013 budget for the code department has been increased and the department’s work will expand to taking care of properties in the city.
The new committee will be responsible for improving the day-to-day working of the code department and the communication between property owners and the city’s Redevelopment Authority. Persing says the plan is for the city to put its foot down on property owners who refuse to cooperate with the code enforcement office by issuing them fines.
Persing will ask Sunbury City Councilmen Joe Bartello, Kevin Troup and Jim Eister to serve on the new committee during next Monday’s council meeting. (Sara Bartlett)
