Support Camp Cadet at Applebees
LEWISBURG — How would you like a state trooper to serve you something other than a ticket? Coming up Wednesday February 27, local state troopers will be hosting a Celebrity Service Night at Applebees in Lewisburg.
The service night helps to fund the SusquehannaValley Law Enforcement Camp Cadet program. State Trooper Matt Burrows said, “At Camp Cadet we focus on teamwork, structure, discipline, and self esteem. We use law enforcement to instill those four qualities. Our intention isn’t necessarily to steer them into a law enforcement career. We try to make them feel good about themselves. We have a way to go about that. I guess there is a method to our madness. We’ve been doing it for a while and we know that it works.”
Camp Cadet is free for kids, thanks to fundraisers like Celebrity Service Night. Burrows said tipping the troopers Wednesday night will not only help the cadets, but also get you some Applebees perks. “A $10 tip will get you two $5 coupons. A $20 tip will get you four $5 coupons, and so on and so forth. It’s been a wonderful partnership since we’ve been doing this,” Burrows said.
Camp Cadet is for girls and boys ages 12-15. This year’s camp is at SusquehannaUniversity on June 16-21. To support CampCadet, have dinner at Applebees in Lewisburg from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. on Wednesday.
