Suspect in custody for starting a fire in Shamokin

SHAMOKIN — One person is in custody after a suspicious fire overnight in Shamokin.  The suspect, James Neidlinger of Shamokin, is accused of arson.  An arraignment is taking place this afternoon.  Neidlinger is being held in the Northumberland County Prison on a probation warrant.

The fire was started around 10:30 pm. last night in the 600 block of Shamokin   Street.  The building was abandoned.  Two other fires have been reported at abandoned buildings in Shamokin in recent days and both fires are considered suspicious.  Police continue to investigate.
